Sub: “SIGHT FOR KIDS” ( SFK) – LIONS MEDICAL PROGRAMME FOR                              THE SCHOOL GOING CHILDREN TO TREAT EYE DEFECTS
Lions Clubs International (LCI) the largest non-Governmental Organisation in the World is engaged in crusading against blindness. Its flagship programme “Sight First” is helping the grown ups in the eradication of dreaded eye disease “Cataract”. LCI is helping millions of common people who suffer from cataract.
Now, LCI has extended this programme among children with the catch word “catch them young”. It is experienced that school is the ideal place to contact children in an organized manner and identify their eye problems. It is also experienced that school going children who suffer from eye problems cannot see black board, models, read books, do not concentrate in the class, do not do home work etc etc. Teachers are the only media who can identify such students in the classes. LCI have taken up this cause to treat such children through efficient hospitals in the world. We have Arvind Hospitals in Coimbetore and Madhurai, Comtrust Eye Hospitals in Calicut, Tellicherry and Kanhangad, Malabar Eye Hospital at Calicut, i Trust, eye care Hospital at Kannur and many other such hospitals. We propose to train volunteer teachers in identifying such students and bring them forward to undergo treatment. Also, LCI will provide spectacles to needy children. This is a phased programme.
In the first phase, we propose to train the teachers to identify the problematic children in their schools. Then we take such children to the specialists and get them treated.
All these are absolutely free;  the expenditure will be borne by the LCI.
To begin with, we propose to conduct a c. We request you to depute teachers to undergo this training and carry on this programme in your school. Experienced specialist from i Trust, Eye Care Hospital at T.K.Junction, Thana, Kannur will be conducting the classes. Time will be from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm.
The attending teachers will be provided refreshment and nominal traveling allowance.
You are requested to co-operate with us for the success of this great cause. Please give a list of teachers from your school. The nominated teachers are requested to report to the undersigned at i Trust, Eye Care Hospital at T.K.Junction, Thana, Kannur at  10-30 am on Wednesday, the  16th September 2015.
        With profound regards,
        Yours Sincerely,
Sd/ xxxx
